Scope and Contents

From the Series:

The Scores and Charts series contains manuscripts and printed music of compositions and arrangements by Samuels as well as compiled works composed and/or arranged by other artists, presumably collected for personal reference and teaching. Several manuscripts are for published works or works that appeared on commercial albums. Additional folders contain music used in Berklee courses or ensembles led by Samuels. Most items are undated and many are photocopies.

Conditions Governing Access

Collection is open for research by appointment. Advance notice is required for access because materials are stored offsite. Audiovisual recordings have not been transferred. Patrons may view an item’s original container and/or carrier, but the recordings themselves are not available for playback due to preservation concerns. Patrons may request access to viewing/listening copies via onsite appointment, however recordings on obsolete formats may not be available. Contact Archives staff for further information.
