Scope and Contents
The Music Studies and Teaching series comprises materials related to Samuels’s student and teaching career. The series primarily consists of curricular resources, including copies of Samuels’s 1992 monograph, Contemporary Vibraphone Technique, Vol. 1 and his 2008 Afro-Cuban Big Band Play-Along book. This series also contains a course schedule for private lessons at Berklee College of Music with Gary Burton, as well as an exercise notebook and a folder of course evaluations for classes Samuels taught at Berklee College of Music.

Conditions Governing Access
Collection is open for research by appointment. Advance notice is required for access because materials are stored offsite. Audiovisual recordings have not been transferred. Patrons may view an item’s original container and/or carrier, but the recordings themselves are not available for playback due to preservation concerns. Patrons may request access to viewing/listening copies via onsite appointment, however recordings on obsolete formats may not be available. Contact Archives staff for further information.
